Overview
Seamless, and thinner than a tile
Microcement is a polymer-modified cementitious coating applied at two to three millimetres total build — thin enough to go straight over existing tile, concrete, screed or cement sheet without demolition or a change in floor height.
The appeal is continuity. Floor runs into skirting, up a wall, across a vanity and into a shower base as a single unbroken surface with no grout lines to fail and nothing to collect. Sealed correctly it is fully waterproof, hard-wearing and suited to bathrooms, kitchens, commercial floors and wet areas.
It is also unforgiving of a poor substrate. Movement telegraphs through, so preparation, priming and reinforcement mesh are not optional extras — they are the job.

Talk to us about a spec- Substrate must be structurally sound and free of movement; microcement will not bridge an active crack.
- Existing tile must be well-adhered — drummy tiles are removed and made good before priming.
- Specify sealer by exposure: two-pack polyurethane for wet and commercial areas, mineral sealer where breathability matters.
- Nominate expansion and movement joints; these are carried through the microcement, not covered by it.
- Underfloor heating must be commissioned and cycled before application.
FAQ
Microcement — your questions answered
Yes — that is one of its main advantages. Provided the tiles are sound and well-adhered, we degrease, abrade, prime and mesh-reinforce over the top. Grout lines are filled during the base coats so nothing telegraphs through.
With the correct system, yes. We apply a compliant waterproof membrane beneath where required, then microcement and a two-pack sealer above. Microcement alone is not a waterproofing membrane, and any installer who tells you otherwise is cutting a corner you will pay for later.
Not from normal use. Cracking in microcement is almost always the substrate moving beneath it — which is why we mesh-reinforce through the base coats and carry movement joints through the finish rather than hiding them.
Typically four to seven days on site depending on area, then light foot traffic after 24 hours from final seal and full service after seven days for the sealer to reach full chemical cure.
