Beyond polished Venetian sits an entire family of mineral decorative systems, each with its own texture, depth and behaviour under light. Limewash for soft cloudy movement. Travertino for the pitted, quarried look of natural stone. Concrete-effect systems for a raw architectural surface without the structural weight.
Choosing between them is the real work, and it is not a catalogue exercise. A finish that reads beautifully in a north-facing living room can fall flat in a corridor with no natural light. We specify to the room — orientation, light sources, adjacent materials and how close people will stand to it.

Talk to us about a spec- Sample boards should be viewed vertically, in the room, at the intended scale — small A4 samples misrepresent large-format texture.
- For ceilings, specify a lower-texture system; raking light across a ceiling is the harshest test any finish faces.
- External applications require a compatible base coat and a breathable protective topcoat rated for UV.
- Where a decorative finish meets paint, detail a shadow line or trim rather than a butt junction.

Decorative Finishes — your questions answered
Limewash is the softest and cloudiest, best where you want atmosphere rather than a statement. Marmorino reads as smooth honed stone. Travertino has visible pitting and quarried movement and wants light across it. We prepare boards in all three for the same colour so you compare like for like.
Usually yes, provided the existing paint is sound, well-adhered and the surface is flat enough. We test adhesion and apply the correct bonding primer for the system. Where paint is flaking or the substrate is uneven, preparation is the larger part of the job.
Yes, with the right system and protective topcoat. For hospitality and retail we generally specify a harder-wearing Marmorino or concrete-effect system with a commercial-grade sealer rather than a soft limewash.
